9.10 Student Discipline
Rochester University provides an atmosphere which reflects Christian values and a lifestyle glorifying God and maintaining individual respect. Student discipline is a requisite part of the learning experience and a social mandate for a campus community.
The responsibility for enforcing the rules and regulations of social conduct falls under the purview of the Dean of Student Development.
While the Dean holds primary responsibility for discipline, all employees should recognize an inherent concern for student conduct. College personnel should be familiar with the rules and regulations of student life. It is appropriate and expected for College personnel to confront students in a Christian manner regarding inappropriate language, dress, public display of affection, or improper conduct. When appropriate, personnel should notify the Dean of Student Development about any confrontation involving student conduct.
When violations of the rules and regulations occur which necessitate suspension or dismissal, the following offices will be notified immediately: President’s Office, Academic Dean, Vice President of Enrollment Services, Director of Student Financial Services, and the Controller. The Academic Dean will place a notice of suspension or dismissal in the faculty’s mailbox.
If suspended, students will be informed that they may not be permitted to make up any class work. The missed time will be counted as an unexcused absence.
