15.5 Posting and Advertising on Campus

All postings and advertisements will be required to go through the Office of Communication Services for approval. Requiring all signage and advertisements to be approved allows the Communications Staff to view materials to insure they are appropriate, to date the material and make assignments in order that it be taken down in a timely manner.

Signage and Advertisements that do not go through the approval process are subject to immediate removal. Campus groups and/or offices that continue to ignore the posting guidelines or the approval process are subject to fines and or may lose their posting privileges.

The posting procedure of Rochester University is designed to utilize student/campus information space in the most effective way possible to communicate college and community related events, activities, and services available. Additionally, bulletin board space is available to communicate and promote college and community related activities and services.

Below are the suggested procedures for all signs and postings. Prior to all posting, all materials must be approved through the Office of Communications and be stamped or signed and dated by Communications Personnel.

  • After approval, materials may be left and will be posted by Communications Personnel in areas they designate as appropriate.
  • Those desiring to use window or wall space other than bulletin boards, after approval, will be informed of acceptable areas where postings can be placed.
  • Groups who post materials on walls, windows or doors are required to remove their materials as soon as the event has ended. Those groups not removing dated material are subject to fines.
  • Material posted on bulletin boards generally remains posted for three to four weeks.

Guidelines:

  • College information, student advertising should meet and be relevant to the college’s mission. Rochester University reserves the right to refuse and remove postings not in the interest of the College Mission.
  • Only clear tape should be used – no duct tapes, strapping tape or adhesives that would leave residue.
  • Each wall, window or door is limited to one piece of material per event. This is subject to approval via the Office of Communications

College sponsored groups or departments who continually do not remove postings will be fined $15.00 and may be denied the ability to post material.
