Corrective Action Policy
Corrective action may be taken against students by instructors and/or the Graduate Council for the following reasons:
- Misconduct related to academic integrity. Work represented by students must be their own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. For more information, see RU’s Code of Academic Integrity.
- Behavior detrimental to maintaining a healthy learning community. Given the cohort nature of RU’s graduate programs, the ability of students to learn in community is vital. Corrective action may be taken if a student is deemed to be persistently disruptive of cohort cohesion.
- Conduct not in keeping with the standards of the Rochester University Student Code of Conduct. RU's Student Code of Conduct can be found on pages 34-63 of the Rochester University Student Handbook.
Students have the right to appeal corrective actions by following the Academic Appeals or Student Grievance Policy (located on page 71 of the Rochester University Student Handbook). To initiate the complaint procedure, students may fill out the Rochester University Student Grievance Form.
