Receipt of Rochester University Policy Manual and Employment-At-Will Statement
This is to acknowledge that I have received a copy of the Rochester University Policy Manual and I understand it contains information about the employment policies and practices of the College. I agree to read and comply with this Policy Manual. I understand the policies outlined in this Policy Manual are management guidelines only, which in a developing business will require changes from time to time. I understand Rochester University retains the right to make decision involving employment as needed in order to conduct its work in a manner that is beneficial to the employees and the College. I understand this Policy Manual supersedes and replaces any and all prior policy manuals and any inconsistent verbal or written policy statements.
I understand that except for the policy of at-will employment, which can only be changed by the Chief Executive Officer of the institution in a signed written contract, Rochester University reserves the right to revise, delete and add to the provisions of this Policy Manual at any time without further notice. All such revisions, deletions or additions to the Policy Manual will be in writing and will be signed by the Chief Executive Office of Rochester University. I understand no oral statements or representations can change the provisions of this Policy Manual.
I understand this Policy Manual is not intended to create contractual obligations with respect to any matters it covers and the Policy Manual does not create a contract guaranteeing I will be employed for any specific time period.
Rochester University is an at-will employer. This means that regardless of any provision in this Policy Manual, the College or I may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason, with or without cause or notice. Nothing in this Policy Manual or in any document or statement, written or oral, shall limit the right to terminate employment at-will. No officer, employee or representative of the College is authorized to enter into an agreement – express or implied – with me or any employee for employment for a specified period of time unless such an agreement is in a written contract signed by the Chief Executive Office of the College.
I understand this Policy Manual refers to current benefit plans maintained by the College and that I must refer to the actual plan documents and summary plan descriptions as these documents are controlling.
I also understand that if a written contract is inconsistent with the Policy Manual, the written contract is controlling.
If I have any questions regarding the content or interpretation of this Policy Manual, I will ask my supervisor or a member of management.
