Course Catalog 2024-2025

Health Sciences, BS

The BS in Health Sciences major has three tracks: Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Pharmacy, and Research Methods.

Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Pharmacy tracks are designed for students interested in pursuing studies at either a pharmacy school or a physical therapy school. This degree will provide the essential background and requirements to enter these health-related programs. Students should consult the requirements of the specific programs to which they plan to apply.

The Research Methods track is designed for students interested in careers in clinical research. Graduates will be prepared to conduct professional research in health-related disciplines, including private, not-for-profit, and public sector research. Graduates will also be eligible to apply for admission to higher degree research studies, which can lead to a high-level research career.

Program Learning Outcomes

The following learning outcomes are linked to assignments and activities throughout this program. After completing program requirements:

  1. Graduates will be able to apply content knowledge, critical thinking, and the methods of science.
  2. Graduates will apply proper safety and ethical practices in laboratory, clinical, and work environments.
  3. Graduates will be able to evaluate the validity of original research and the conclusions drawn from this research.
  4. Graduates will be able to communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual forms.
