HIS 4333 Europe Since 1945

Surveys the divergent paths of Western and Eastern European nations in the Cold War era, and the opportunities and challenges presented by the fall of European communism. Includes post-World War II recovery and reconstruction; the onset of the "Iron Curtain" and Cold War; decolonization; the European Union project; national politics, societies and cultures; the collapse of communist regimes; resurgent nationalism and the Yugoslav wars and the challenges of globalization. PR: Sophomore status or departmental approval required.
