Code of Academic Integrity

At Rochester College students are expected to maintain academic integrity throughout the entire educational process. Students are responsible for reading, understanding, and adhering to the Code of Academic Integrity. This document presents important definitions, levels of violation, potential sanctions, disciplinary processes, students’ rights and responsibilities, and appeal processes. The latest version of the Code of Academic Integrity can be found on the college’s website or student portal.

Violations to the Code of Academic Integrity may result in the following academic disciplinary actions:

  1. Academic Disciplinary Probation: Students with Level 2 violations may be placed on Academic Disciplinary Probation for one or more semesters and the sanction will be reflected permanently in the student’s academic file.
  2. Academic Disciplinary Suspension: Students with Level 3 or 4 violations may be placed on Academic Disciplinary Suspension for one or more semesters and the sanction will be reflected permanently on the student’s academic transcript. When a student has concluded the suspension period and completed the conditions accompanying the suspension, he/she must submit a letter to the provost and provide evidence that he/she has satisfied the terms of the suspension. Students who return to Rochester College after an absence of 12 or more months must reapply (see the Re-Enrollment Policy).
  3. Academic Disciplinary Expulsion: Students with Level 4 violations may be placed on Academic Disciplinary Expulsion and are not permitted to return to Rochester College. The sanction will be reflected permanently on the student’s academic transcript.

Suspension or expulsion from the college further involves the following:

The student may be withdrawn from all courses carried that semester according to the policy of his/her school; the student shall forfeit fees according to the normal refund schedule of Rochester College; the student is prohibited from participating in any academic or extracurricular activities of the college.
