ENG 1003 Basic Writing

Practice with summarizing and responding to published material. Emphasizes reading comprehension as well as practice with revision and editing for content, organization, grammar, punctuation, and style. Attention to applying college study skills to assignments. Students may earn up to six hours of elective credit for developmental courses taken at Rochester University. PR: Students are placed in ENG 1003 Basic Writing if they have a recent high school GPA below 2.75, or score below 450 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing on the new SAT, or below 31 in English + Reading on the ACT test. Students can use their highest measure for placement.
