Admission Procedures

To apply for the traditional undergraduate program at Rochester College, each of the following steps must be completed. For those seeking financial aid, completing these steps as early as possible is important.

1. Submit a completed application for undergraduate admission to the Admissions Office. Application forms may be downloaded or submitted online at www.rc.edu/apply Applications are also available upon request from the Admissions Office. A fee may be assessed for processing a paper application.
2. Request delivery of your official transcripts to Rochester College.
   1. For students who are entering college for the first time or have 15 or fewer credit hours of college course work completed, official high school and college (if applicable) transcripts must be submitted. To request a high school transcript, a Transcript Request Form is available for downloading at www.rc.edu/apply. Transcripts are required before an admission decision is made. Students must make arrangements to have a final high school transcript sent to Rochester College after graduation. GED graduates must submit an official copy of their GED scores to the Admissions Office. The deadline to submit the official high school transcripts (or GED scores) is by census date (census date is the second Friday of each semester) of the semester the student first begins attendance.  Appeals to this deadline, due to mitigating circumstances, may be submitted in writing to advising@rc.edu.  Please note, in order to be eligible for financial aid, final high school transcripts, showing successful graduation status, must be submitted.
   2. Students seeking to attend Rochester College who have 16 or more hours of college course work completed must submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities they have attended.
3. If you are entering college for the first time or you are transferring 15 or fewer credit hours from an accredited college or university, you are required to submit ACT or SAT scores to Rochester College (this is not applicable for accelerated programs). ACT or SAT scores noted on a high school transcript are acceptable for an admission decision but the detailed score report may be required for placement in math and English classes. You may request that your scores be submitted to Rochester College at these websites: www.actstudent.org (ACT) and www.collegeboard.org (SAT). Rochester College’s ACT code is 2072, and our SAT code is 1516.
4. Rochester College recognizes the experience of living on campus as a valuable part of every student's college experience. The residential experience at Rochester College provides students with opportunities to grow and examine issues including value development, decision making, problem solving, leadership development, and personal faith commitment. All first and second year students are required to live on campus in the residence halls. Third-year and fourth-year students have the opportunity to live in on-campus or off-campus housing. The campus residency requirement is determined by the years out of high school, not the number of college credit hours earned. First-year students who have recently graduated from high school live in residence halls designated for first year students. Students completing their second year of post-secondary education live in residence halls designated for upperclassmen. The exceptions to the residency requirement are as follows:

• Local Residency: Students physically residing with parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Application to commute from home required.
• Age: Students 21 years of age or older (by the first day of classes each semester)
• Family Status: Students who are currently married or custodial parents. Copy of marriage license or child's birth certificate required.
• High School Graduation Date: A student has graduated from high school more than two years prior to the beginning of the fall semester. (Home schooled students and high school students enrolled in college classes earning dual enrollment credit are not exempt from the residency requirement).
• Minimal Hours: Students enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours.
• Military Service: Students who have served at least two years of continuous active military duty. Copy of your DD-14 or discharge paperwork required.
• Medical/ADA Concern: A student has a documented medical/ADA concern submitted and verified through the Accommodations Officer.

Please be aware that many scholarships are granted based on living on campus in the residence hall. Check with Financial Services to ensure no loss of scholarship will occur if you choose not to reside on campus. 

Students planning to live on campus must submit a room reservation form, which can be downloaded from our website at www.rc.edu/apply. Housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. A room security deposit wil be added to your student account at the time Residence Life creates your room assignment. Submission of the room reservation form does not commit the student to living on campus; it only indicates the applicant’s interest in doing so.
