Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements for the MA in Sport Leadership Program
- A completed application for graduate admission.
- An earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution.
- Official transcript(s) in English (or translated to English) from all previous university work. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application review, but official transcripts are required for admission. Students that have yet to complete a baccalaureate degree, may submit a current (in-progress) transcript now and a final transcript showing degree conferral upon graduation.
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required for Unconditional Admission. Conditional Admission status may be granted to an applicant with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average between 2.7 and 2.99 on a 4.0 scale.
- Three letters of recommendation in support of the student’s application: Letters are generally from professors at the student’s last degree-granting institution or from supervisors or peers who can attest to the applicant’s ability to complete graduate-level work.
- A 500-1000 word personal statement, in which the applicant describes his or her academic background, career goals, and reason for pursuing a master’s degree in Sport Leadership. The admissions committee would like to know as much as possible about each applicant. Personal and professional information or achievements are appropriate to include.
Admission Types
Applicants to Rochester Christian University’s Sport Leadership program will receive one of three types of admission status:
- Unconditional Admission status is granted only to applicants who have fully satisfied all admission requirements and who are selected by the Sport Leadership program’s admission committee to join the specific graduate program.
- Conditional Admission may be granted to applicants who have only partially fulfilled the admission requirements if the Sport Leadership program’s admission committee determines that this applicant has the potential to succeed in graduate studies, and if the admissions committee selects them for admission; however, Conditional Admission status is not automatically granted to applicants with partial fulfillment of the admission requirements. Students who are assigned Conditional Admission status due to a cumulative undergraduate GPA below 3.0 must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the student’s first semester in the graduate program. Students who are assigned Conditional Admission status due to not fulfilling other admission requirements must complete all admission requirements within the student’s first semester in the program. If admission requirements are not completed or the student’s cumulative GPA is below a 3.0 at the end of the first semester in the program, the student’s participation in the Sport Leadership program may be terminated.
- Decline for Admission will be assigned to applicants who do not satisfy a substantial portion of the admission requirements and/or the Sport Leadership program’s admission committee determines that this applicant does not have the potential to succeed in graduate studies.
Accuracy of Material
All application material submitted must be accurate. Any erroneous, misleading, or incomplete information may be grounds for rejection of the application, or if admitted, withdrawal from the university.
