MREML Capstone Requirement

Students complete the MRE in Missional Leadership with a capstone project that features an electronic portfolio. The portfolio stretches across the entire program, has two principal elements, and culminates in a capstone course with a portfolio defense. Eight courses total with BIB (Bible) and THL (theology/history) prefixes feature a “portfolio” assignment that is situated in the student’s ministry context and demonstrates an instance of missional leadership. These designated assignments stand alone and are collected as artifacts represented in the portfolio. The four MIN (ministry) courses in the program build one continuous project that becomes the centerpiece of the portfolio and the focus of the student’s defense. In pulling the MIN project together in the capstone course, the BIB and THL assignments are not left behind but are considered as possible biblical and theological warrants for the centerpiece project. The defense of the portfolio involves a 20-minute summary of the project by the student followed by an hour of Q&A with faculty and fellow cohort members.
