Community Living

Residence Life

Rochester University recognizes the experience of living on campus as a valuable part of every student's experience. The residential experience at Rochester University provides students with opportunities to grow and examine issues including value development, decision making, problem solving, leadership development, and personal faith commitment. All first- and second-year students are required to live on campus in the residence halls. Exceptions to the residency requirement are outlined in the Student Handbook.

Student Conduct

Rochester University is committed to building a campus culture that is in harmony with Christian values. Enrollment at Rochester University serves as the student’s agreement to abide by the university’s standards of conduct. Students are personally responsible at all times for their conduct on the main campus, other RU campuses, and in the RU community. Rochester University encourages good character; therefore, immodest or inappropriate attire, dishonesty, profanity, sexual impropriety, gambling, property abuse, on-campus or underage use or possession of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or tobacco is not permitted. The Student Handbook describes all policies and the Student Code of Conduct. Violation of university regulations or civil law may lead to dismissal. Students may not agree with all university standards, but are nonetheless, expected to demonstrate responsibility as well as character through honorable adherence to the policies. Furthermore, all students are expected to observe common courtesy and cooperation with others in the Rochester University student body, collaborative constituencies, and community.

Dining Services

All students living in residence halls are required to purchase a university meal plan. The meal plan allows students to eat up to 19 meals per week when classes are in session. $100 is credited per semester on the ID card as Warrior Bucks (Warrior Bucks are renewed each semester and remaining funds are non-transferable to next semester) which can be used in the Isom Atrium Café, Campus Store, and at Kibo Corner. Meals are non-transferable. Students may request a modification or exemption from the meal plan by completing an Aladdin’s Food Service Meal Modification/Exemption Request form available on the student portal (my.rochesteru.edu) under the menu heading “Online Applications and Forms.” If it is for medical reasons, the student will need to complete the accommodation process with the accommodations officer (accommodations@rc.edu). Requests for exemption are usually only approved when Aladdin Food Service cannot modify the meal plan to meet the dietary needs of the student.
