Residence Halls

Barbier Hall

This hall is a two-story building located north of the Ferndale and Hoggatt Halls. It houses male and female students and their puppies who are participating in the Leader Dogs For the Blind puppy program. Rooms are carpeted and furnished with bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, chest of drawers, and hutch. Each floor has a community bathroom.

Ferndale Hall

This women’s residence hall offers suite-style living with private baths and Internet access in each room. All rooms are furnished with tile flooring, wardrobes, dressers, beds, desks, and chairs. Cable is also available. Residents may use Ferndale’s central kitchen and Dearborn Commons for laundry.

Gatewood Hall

This student residence hall offers suite-style living with private baths and Internet access in each room. All rooms are furnished with beds, wardrobes or closets, dressers, desks with hutches or shelves, and chairs. Cable is also available. Both men and women have access to a laundry room and kitchenette. The offices of Shield Media, Rochester University’s student magazine, are located in the basement of Gatewood Hall, as well as Communication Services and the Department of Mass Communication.

Hoggatt Hall

This men’s residence hall offers suite-style living with private baths and Internet access in each room. All rooms are furnished with tile flooring, beds, wardrobes, dressers, desks, and chairs. Cable is also available. Residents who live in Hoggatt Hall are also permitted to use Hoggatt’s central kitchen and the laundry in Dearborn Commons.

Palmer Hall

Available on a limited basis to students 26 years and older or married students, each room features carpeting, a private bath, walk-in closet, outside entrance, and hookups for cable and Internet. Some rooms include a kitchenette. Palmer Hall is also the headquarters for the Housekeeping Department.
